A touch of country, a little rock and some pop will be sure to make Jessica Andrews's third album, "Now," likely to get a lot of air play on most radio stations.
The sound of the album, produced by Byron Gallimore, can be compared to the versatility and the pop-like appeal of the country music sung by Shania Twain or Faith Hill.
The first single on the record, "There's more to me than you," was co-written by Andrews and doesn't sound much like the country music most of us expect.
The song is introduced with the sound of an electric guitar and drums, not the violin and the banjo.
Another pop-rock song on the album is "To love you once." The song is catchy but is far from a Britney Spears type of pop song.
The electric guitar can be heard again giving it that rock edge, but there is a hint of banjo playing in the background that makes the connection to country music.
There are definitely some very beautiful ballads on the album that Andrews brings alive with her beautiful voice and her heartfelt, mature lyrics.
Her passion for the song can easily be heard through her voice as she sings "I bring it to you."
Another song, "You're the man, (That brings the woman out of me)" begins with a lot of energy and an upbeat sound that subtly shifts to Andrews singing a beautiful love song that was co-written by James T. Slater and Andrews's songwriter boyfriend Marcel Chagnon.
Andrews's personal connection to this song's meaning is evident in the way she sings the lyrics with a strong and passionate tone in her voice.
Her country-loving fans won't be disappointed by the album either.
She stays true to her country music roots with the songs "When Gentry Plays Guitar," "Cowboy Guarantee," and "Good Time."
Overall the album incorporates different genres of music that will be likely to appeal to a variety of people with different musical tastes.
