Apple's iPhone is said to reinvent the way you look at a phone.
The revolutionary phone combines two major electronic devices that most students use on a daily basis, the cell phone and the MP3 player.
Although this has been done before, no other similar products do it quite like the iPhone.
Just to get this out of the way, it won't be cheap to own one of these things. There are two different models of the product: the 8GB (gigabyte) iPhone and the 4GB.
The 8GB version will be priced at $599 with a two-year contract with Cingular, and the 4GB will cost $499 along with the two-year contract with Cingular. The more GB's you have, the more songs and videos you can store.
According to Apple's Web site, the iPhone is 4.5 inches tall, 0.4 inches thick, and 2.4 inches wide, so it's a pretty compact device for all that it does. Besides the home key which is on the bottom of the iPhone, the 3.5 inch screen's interface is completely controlled by the touch of your fingers not a stylus pen. The screen will give a clear picture in a resolution of 320x480x160 pixels per inch.
Another real big standout feature with the iPhone is the "smart" screen, which can detect when the iPhone is rotated and automatically adjusts the screen from portrait to landscape mode. Meaning your pictures and movies will rotate as you rotate the screen. The screen can also detect when the iPhone is lifted to your ear and turns off the display so you're cheek doesn't accidently press any buttons while you're talking on the phone. This was a huge problem with the Chocolate on Verizon Wireless.
It has all your basic cell phone features such as address book, camera, and text messaging. A feature that can't be overlooked, though is the selective voicemail feature. Say you have multiple voicemail messages, in the past you would have to call your voicemail and listen to every single message, but with this you can scroll through your messages and select which one you want to listen to.
